Purwokerto – The English Literature Program of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto (UMP) once again demonstrated its quality through the graduation yudisium held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Hotel Dominic. A total of 14 students successfully completed their studies, bringing pride to the English Literature department.
This pride was further elevated by the achievements of several students who completed their final projects in the form of scientific articles. Remarkably, these articles were published in nationally accredited journals indexed in SINTA 3 and SINTA 4, serving as tangible proof of the academic competence of UMP’s English Literature graduates.
One of the prospective graduates, Putri Syahara, shared her reason for choosing to write a scientific article instead of a traditional thesis. “A scientific article can be published as open access and is more concise, allowing the information I convey to be accessed more widely and quickly,” she explained. She further noted that writing an article still requires hard work to meet journal standards.
This achievement highlights that UMP’s English Literature Program is not solely focused on theoretical learning but also encourages its students to contribute to the academic community. Through its quality education system, UMP reaffirms its commitment to producing graduates who are prepared to compete both academically and professionally.
Despite the benefits, writing scientific articles also presents its own challenges. “One of the challenges during the writing process is the word limit set by the journal, which means the topic must be explored in a very focused and concise manner,” Putri added, illustrating the dynamics faced by students in crafting academic publications.
The yudisium not only marked the conclusion of their academic journey but also signaled the beginning of a new chapter for the English Literature graduates. Feelings of relief and joy were shared among the prospective graduates. “I am deeply grateful that all the hard work has finally paid off. Seeing my peers also choose to write articles made this experience feel more solid and motivated me to keep creating,” Putri expressed enthusiastically.
Congratulations to all English Literature graduates of UMP! May you continue to inspire and bring pride to the university on an even greater scale.
